Grief is not a problem to be solved or something to overcome within a specific timeframe. Grieving is an ongoing and deeply personal journey that presents unique challenges as we navigate the path forward to healing.
This four-month program is designed to provide meaningful reflection and a safe space in which to process one’s grief with love, compassion, and hope for the future along with others experiencing a similar loss.
Meetings will be held at the church on Sundays after service and will be facilitated by minister Jane Selinske and Journey Within ministers. Sessions will focus on the following topics. Participants will receive instruction prior to each class and should be prepared to engage in targeted activities.

Gather round. It’s Halloween, and we’re telling ghost stories. American ones. Because it turns out, American ghosts are different.
Every country has haunted castles and crumbling old ruins full of restless spirits. America doesn’t, so our ghosts and ghost writers had to create a new kind of haunting for a new landscape and history.
Join Dr. Karen Frances McCarthy for a Halloween gathering as we trace these tales of the uncanny from their beginning to today. From the frontier to the gothic to the modern, we’ll meet Washington Irving’s headless horseman, Edgar Allan Poe’s murderer, haunted by his victim’s beating heart, Henry James’s governess, tormented by ghosts nobody else can see, Shirley Jackson’s unhappy house that drives everyone mad, and Toni Morrison’s daughter, who comes back from the beyond in one of the most original ghost stories ever written.
And we’ll end somewhere nobody else has gone. Almost every ghost, in every country, in every century, has wanted revenge, justice, or forgiveness. But in modern American tales, the ghost has given up haunting entirely. It simply continues on its own journey through the afterlife in some of the strangest and most colorful stories around. Why is that only happening in American ghost fiction? We’ll find out.
There will be chills. There will be a few laughs. And by the end of the night, you’ll see why the ghost story is still full of surprises.

A powerful platform demonstration is about more than producing good evidence. It is about recognizing the communicator, following their story and allowing their character to emerge.
The Story of Spirit is a two-day intensive for intermediate and advanced mediums who are ready to develop greater depth, confidence, and ease in their platform work.
You will work with the skills that shape a strong platform demonstration: developing presence, working with evidence, recognizing character, following the communicator’s story, managing challenges, staying present when things do not unfold as expected, and regulating the nervous
system before you begin.

This is for you if…
➜ You have experience with evidential mediumship and want to develop greater depth, confidence
and ease in public demonstration.
➜ You want to move beyond disconnected evidence, following the communicator through character,
memories, relationships and story.
➜ You want stronger platform presence, greater confidence when faced with uncertainty or a “no,” and the ability to stay with the communicator rather than searching for the next piece of information.
➜ You know your mediumship has more depth than you are currently able to express in public, and want to communicate messages that matter most to the recipient.
Two experienced teachers. One intensive weekend.
Dr. Karen Frances McCarthy PhD CSNU is an internationally recognized medium, educator, academic and bestselling author. She has trained extensively at the Arthur Findlay College and holds Certificates of Recognition in mediumship, spiritual healing and public speaking from the
Spiritualists’ National Union. She teaches mediumship internationally, with a particular focus on evidence, presence, character, story and confident, ethical demonstration. Her approach brings together extensive practical experience with her academic work on consciousness, mediumship and
the stories we carry.
Rev. Pamela Meredith is an evidential medium, ordained Spiritualist minister, teacher and mentor. She received extensive training with Rev. Janet Nohavec at The Journey Within and has also studied with teachers at the Arthur Findlay College in England. Following the tragedy of September 11, 2001, Pam began receiving referrals from bereavement groups and surviving family members. She has since developed a substantial practice in mediumship and has mentored hundreds of students.

Come and join us at the “Birthplace of Modern Spiritualism” as we deepen your connection with spirit, and share the wisdom and teachings of late, great, Mavis Pittilla, a world-renowned medium of the last 60 years.
Her knowledge and teachings are timeless, and through her recorded legacy you will have the opportunity to watch how she communicated, and blended, with the spirit world, acquire her knowledge and practice her techniques.
This is also a wonderful opportunity to absorb the atmosphere of this special area in this corner of Hydesville, where the story of Spiritualism began almost 200 years ago.
During this time there will be a special dedication ceremony where we honor Rev. Janet Nohavec, of the Journey Within, New Jersey, the visionary who created this special environment, through sheer drive, and imagination. Her desire was always to rekindle the flame of spiritualism in this special corner of the USA.
Mavis, Janet’s close friend, and colleague, contributed to her dream through fund-raising, alongside many others, and she will also be recognized on this occasion. The main room of the schoolhouse will be dedicated to her, as a healing sanctuary.
Over eight years ago, Janet had asked Mavis to dedicate the schoolhouse, when completed. Sadly neither saw the
completion whilst alive, so it is fitting that they share this special occasion with us, and in spirit together.
It will be our honor to officiate at this service, with reverence, respect and love they had for spirit, to celebrate these two remarkable women, and mediums, and of course Janet’s remarkable vision.
